Observation of Very High Energy Gamma Rays from SS433/W50 with CANGAROO-II Telescope

چکیده
SS433 is a unique star located at the center of supernova remnant called W50, and is a close proximity binary star system which consists of a compact star and a normal star. Jets of material are directed outwards from the vicinity of the compact star symmetrically to the east and west. The radiation of non-thermal X-rays considered to have been formed by the jets is detected at both of X-ray lobes by Einstein observatory, and confirmed by ROSAT and ASCA, respectively. Observation of the western X-ray lobe region was performed by the CANGAROOII telescope in August and September, 2001. We present a preliminary result of our observation in this paper.

Observation of TeV gamma rays from the NE-rim of SN1006 with CANGAROO-II 10m telescope
Observation of the North East (NE) rim of SN1006 has been carried out using the CANGAROO-II 10m telescope in April and May 2000. The observation time is 55.2 and 48.8 hours, ONand OFF-source runs, respectively. We have confirmed TeV Gamma-ray emission from the NE-rim. The energy threshold of the observed flux is estimated to be around 1 TeV by the Monte Carlo simulation assuming the inverse Com...
متن کاملStatus of an Atmospheric Cherenkov Imaging Camera for the CANGAROO–III Experiment and Perspective of the Field
CANGAROO–III is an experiment aiming at studying the properties of very high energy gamma rays from celestial objects in the southern sky. We use an array of 4 imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes in Australia. The observation with the first telescope (CANGAROO–II) started in 1999 and the data have been analyzed. The second telescope was constructed in 2002 and stereoscopic observations sta...
متن کاملGamma - Rays 1 Observation of gamma - rays greater than 10 TeV from
We have observed Markarian 421 during an extraordinarily high state in January and March 2001 with the CANGAROO-II imaging Cherenkov telescope. From 14 hours observations at a large zenith angle of ∼70◦, a signal of 298± 52 gamma-ray–like events was detected at E > 10 TeV with 5.7 σ significance. Under the assumption of power-law spectrum, we derived a steep energy spectrum of photon index ∼4.0...
متن کاملCangaroo-iii Observations of the Supernova Remnant Rx J0852.0−4622
Sub-TeV gamma-ray emission from the North-West rim of the supernova remnant RX J0852.0−4622 was detected with the CANGAROO-II telescope and recently confirmed by the H.E.S.S. group. In addition, the H.E.S.S. data revealed a very wide (up to two degrees in diameter), shell-like profile of the gamma-ray emission. We have carried out CANGAROO-III observations in January and February 2005 with thre...
متن کاملTeV Gamma Ray Emission from Southern Sky Objects and CANGAROO Project
We report recent results of the CANGAROO Collaboration on very high energy gamma ray emission from pulsars, their nebulae, SNR and AGN in the southern sky. Observations are made in South Australia using the imaging technique of detecting atmospheric Cerenkov light from gamma rays higher than about 1 TeV. The detected gamma rays are most likely produced by the inverse Compton process by electron...
